My Swamp — Heron Cypress Swamp Relief

My Swamp is a dimensional carved relief featuring a great blue heron wading through a quiet cypress swamp, fish in its beak and completely at home in its surroundings. The layered scene captures that brief moment after the hunt—a successful catch surrounded by the tangled roots, water, and vegetation of a Southern wetland.

Carved from walnut and individually hand-finished, the sculpture combines precise CNC carving with hands-on finishing to bring depth and texture to every part of the scene. The heron stands prominently against the cypress backdrop, while the varying relief depths create shadows and dimension that change as the light moves across the piece.
